Plagiarism and Similarity Policy
The Al-Turath Journal of Scientific Reviews (ATJSR) considers plagiarism a serious violation of scholarly and publication ethics. All submitted manuscripts may be screened using appropriate similarity-detection software before or during editorial evaluation.
Plagiarism includes the use of another person's words, ideas, interpretations, figures, tables, data, or other intellectual material without appropriate attribution. It also includes closely paraphrasing previously published material without proper citation or presenting previously published content as new work.
Because review articles necessarily discuss and cite a substantial body of previously published literature, similarity percentages alone are not used as the sole basis for determining plagiarism. The editorial assessment considers the nature, source, location, and scholarly context of the similarity, including whether appropriate citation and original critical synthesis have been provided.
Authors should avoid excessive copying of text even when the original source is cited. Scientific information should normally be synthesized and expressed in the authors' own scholarly language. Appropriate quotation and citation should be used when verbatim wording is necessary.
Inappropriate reuse of substantial portions of an author's own previously published text without disclosure or citation may be considered text recycling or self-plagiarism. Duplicate or redundant publication is not permitted.
If significant plagiarism or inappropriate duplication is detected before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. If plagiarism is identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction depending on the severity of the case.
The journal reserves the right to request explanations from authors and, in serious cases, to communicate substantiated concerns to relevant institutions or other appropriate bodies.
