Review Reporting Guidelines

The Al-Turath Journal of Scientific Reviews (ATJSR) encourages authors to follow internationally recognized reporting standards appropriate to the type of review being submitted. Transparent reporting is essential for improving the reproducibility, credibility, and scientific usefulness of review articles.

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses should be prepared in accordance with the PRISMA reporting framework. Authors are expected to describe the review question, information sources, databases searched, search strategy, eligibility criteria, study-selection procedures, data-extraction process, methods used to assess study quality or risk of bias, and the approach used for qualitative or quantitative synthesis. A study-selection flow diagram should be included when appropriate.

Scoping reviews should follow recognized reporting principles applicable to scoping evidence synthesis, including clear description of the review objectives, search strategy, eligibility criteria, screening process, data-charting methods, and presentation of the principal evidence domains and knowledge gaps.

Meta-analyses must clearly describe the statistical procedures used for pooled analysis, assessment of heterogeneity, evaluation of publication bias where appropriate, sensitivity or subgroup analyses when relevant, and interpretation of the robustness of the evidence.

Narrative and state-of-the-art reviews should also describe how the literature was identified and selected whenever possible. Although these reviews may use broader and more flexible methods than systematic reviews, authors should provide sufficient information to demonstrate that the evidence base has been selected fairly and that conclusions are supported by relevant scientific literature.

Authors are encouraged to register systematic-review protocols in an appropriate public registry when applicable and to provide the registration number in the manuscript. Any important deviations from a previously registered protocol should be transparently disclosed and justified.
