Aim & Scope

The Al-Turath Journal of Physiology (AJP) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal devoted to publishing high-quality research in human, animal, and plant physiology. The journal aims to advance understanding of physiological mechanisms at the molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and whole-organism levels, with particular emphasis on experimental, comparative, clinical, and translational research.

Human Physiology and Pathophysiology

The journal welcomes studies addressing normal and altered physiological functions in humans, including cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, metabolic, reproductive, nervous, musculoskeletal, and immune systems. Research in clinical physiology, exercise physiology, aging, environmental adaptation, disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and translational physiology is particularly encouraged.

Animal and Comparative Physiology

AJP publishes research involving laboratory animals, mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates when such studies provide important insights into physiological regulation, adaptation, growth, reproduction, metabolism, stress responses, and disease mechanisms. Comparative and veterinary physiology studies, as well as experimental animal models used to investigate biological and pathological processes, are also within the journal's scope.

Plant Physiology

The journal welcomes studies exploring the physiological processes underlying plant growth, development, metabolism, photosynthesis, respiration, water balance, mineral nutrition, hormonal regulation, seed germination, and environmental adaptation. Particular interest is given to plant responses to drought, salinity, temperature, oxidative stress, heavy metals, and other biotic or abiotic stresses, as well as research related to crop physiology and plant productivity.

Cellular and Molecular Physiology

AJP also considers research focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate physiological function, including cell signaling, membrane transport, ion channels, mitochondrial function, oxidative and redox processes, molecular regulation, receptors, metabolic pathways, and physiological biomarkers. Studies integrating molecular findings with organ or whole-organism function are particularly encouraged.

Experimental and Translational Physiology

The journal supports modern experimental and interdisciplinary approaches, including clinical and translational physiology, physiological modeling, computational analysis, biomedical measurement techniques, imaging, and innovative methods used to investigate physiological processes. Computational and theoretical studies may be considered when they are biologically relevant and supported by experimental or physiological evidence.

The Al-Turath Journal of Physiology seeks to provide a multidisciplinary platform that connects research across human, animal, and plant physiology, promoting a deeper understanding of biological function, adaptation, health, disease, and environmental interactions.
