REFERENCES & IN-TEXT CITATIONS (APA 7th EDITION)
Mandatory: All manuscripts must follow the APA 7th Edition author–date citation style. References must be cited explicitly within the manuscript text using the author's surname and year of publication. Numbered citations such as [1], [2], [3] or superscript citation numbers are not accepted.
In-Text Citations
  • One author: Smith (2023) or (Smith, 2023).
  • Two authors: Smith and Brown (2023) in narrative text, or (Smith & Brown, 2023) in parenthetical citation.
  • Three or more authors: Smith et al. (2023) or (Smith et al., 2023).
  • Multiple references in one citation: Arrange citations alphabetically by the first author's surname and separate them with semicolons, for example: (Brown, 2021; Hassan et al., 2022; Smith & Jones, 2024).
  • Every source cited in the manuscript text must appear in the reference list, and every source included in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript text.
Reference List
  • The reference list must follow the APA 7th Edition format.
  • References must be arranged in alphabetical order according to the surname of the first author.
  • Works by the same author must be arranged chronologically from the earliest to the most recent publication.
  • Use a 1.27 cm (0.5 inch) hanging indent for each reference entry.
  • A maximum of 35 references is recommended for Original Research Articles.
  • Authors should preferentially cite recent, relevant, peer-reviewed, and scientifically reliable sources.
  • Where a DOI is available, it must be included and presented as an active DOI link in the following format: https://doi.org/xxxxx.
  • Excessive self-citation should be avoided. Authors should normally cite no more than 5 of their own previous publications unless scientifically justified.
APA Reference Example – Journal Article:
Smith, J. A., Brown, T. R., & Wilson, M. K. (2024). Physiological mechanisms of oxidative stress and cellular adaptation. Journal of Experimental Physiology, 15(2), 115–128. https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxxx
Example of Citation Within the Manuscript:
Oxidative stress can significantly influence cellular and mitochondrial function (Smith et al., 2024). Similarly, Brown and Hassan (2023) reported that physiological adaptation is associated with changes in antioxidant defense mechanisms.
